Erhard Geyer

Erhard Geyer (born January 1, 1939 in Helmenzen ) is a German trade unionist . From 1995 to 2003 he was federal chairman of the German Association of Civil Servants (dbb). Geyer is a member of the CDU .

Life

Geyer, born in the Westerwalddorf Helmenzen, joined the Rhineland-Palatinate tax administration in 1956 after finishing secondary school , initially at the Altenkirchen (Westerwald) tax office , where he worked as an auditor from 1974 and was chairman of the staff council from 1971 to 1977 . At the state finance school of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in Edenkoben , he qualified as a graduate financial economist for high-level service.

In 1977 Geyer came to the Rhineland-Palatinate state capital Mainz as chairman of the regional staff council at the Oberfinanzdirektion Koblenz . At the same time he was elected chairman of the main staff council at the Ministry of Finance of Rhineland-Palatinate.

In 1988 Erhard Geyer was elected chairman of the German Tax Union (DSTG). From that time on he was on leave without pay until his retirement. In November 1995 he took over the federal chairmanship of the German Association of Civil Servants, in which position he was confirmed by an overwhelming majority at the trade union conference in November 1999. At the trade union day in Leipzig in 2003 , Geyer no longer ran for the office of chairman after eight years in office. His successor was Peter Heesen .

In December 2001, Geyer retired as a tax clerk.

As a representative of the German Association of Civil Servants, Geyer was a member of the ZDF television council . He was also involved in the government commission for a major income tax reform headed by the then Federal Minister of Finance Theo Waigel in the so-called Petersberg resolutions of January 22, 1997.

Erhard Geyer, who was mayor of his home town of Helmenzen for many years, has been married to Helga Herchert since 1960, and the marriage resulted in two sons.
