Erhard Hausendorff
Erhard Hausdorff (* 19th October 1888 in Berlin ; † 17th May 1960 in Hamburg ) was a German forest scientist and Prussian Oberland forester , the special contributions to securing and forest conversion of Schorfheide acquired.
Life
Hausendorff, whose father had a forest background, studied botany and forest science at the Royal Prussian Forest Academy in Hannoversch Münden , at the Eberswalde Forest Academy and in Munich. He did his doctorate in Berlin with Gottlieb Haberlandt as Dr. phil. and became head of the traditional forestry office Grimnitz in the Schorfheide in the Prussian state service , which already ties in with the tradition of the Brandenburg Heidereiter of the Brandenburg electors. They had maintained a hunting lodge in Grimitz since the Middle Ages, of which only the Grimnitz castle ruins have survived . Balduin von Hövel , as Hausendorff's predecessor in Grimnitz, was Kaiser Wilhelm II's first hunting guide until his abdication. Hausendorff headed the Grimnitz Forestry Office until 1940.
Together with his teacher Alfred Möller , he coined the term permanent forest as a modern form of forest management. From 1925 to 1945 Hausendorff was a lecturer in hunting studies at the university in Eberswalde. He was particularly interested in keeping the Schorfheide deer and the woodcock . In 1934 he was promoted to chief forestry officer and took over the management of the research institute for forestry , which moved its headquarters to Reinbek in the Sachsenwald after 1945 and became part of the Federal Research Institute for Forestry and Wood Management . In 1948, Hausendorff had to ask for retirement for health reasons.
In 1953 he was the founder of the “Friends of Schorfheide”.
