Erica Balqué (born February 10, 1912 in Leipzig , † March 24, 2003 in Berlin ; occasionally also known as Erica Balque , E. Balqué or Erica Käutner-Balqué ) was a German actress , director and radio play speaker .

Life

Erica Balqué was the daughter of Reinhold Balqué and his wife Elisabeth. Her father was employed as an actor and director at the Schauspielhaus in Leipzig. In February 1934, Erica Balqué married the actor and director Helmut Käutner , whom she had previously met during a guest performance of his cabaret Die vier Nachrichtener in Leipzig. From 1938 she belonged to the ensemble of the Leipziger Schauspielhaus.

First rollers in film productions was Erica Balqué 1937 in The glass ball with Albrecht Schoenhals , Paul Henckels and Theodor Loos and 1939 in Salonwagen E 417 from Paul Verhoeven a script by Helmut Käutner and Bobby E. Lüthge . Paul Hörbiger , Käthe von Nagy and Curd Jürgens played next to her .

From the late 1940s she was seen as an actress in particular in feature films directed by Helmut Käutner . Among them was the 1947 episode film In those days with Gert Karl Schaefer , Erich Schellow , Eva Gotthardt, Hermann Schomberg and Kurt Meister . In 1955, Erica Balqué played the role of Anne Eilers in the film adaptation of Carl Zuckmayer's drama Des Teufels General with Curd Juergens , Marianne Koch and Viktor de Kowa in the leading roles. In Käutner's Ludwig II: Shine and Misery of a King (1955) she played the role of Cosima , Richard Wagner's wife .

Erica Balqué also appeared in television productions . In 1967 she starred alongside her husband in the television film Forbidden Land, directed by Ida Ehre .

In the 1950s she mainly worked in directing and subsequently worked as an assistant director on many of Helmut Käutner's films. In 1961, Erica Balqué directed Too Young for Love? as the first woman to direct a feature film after the end of World War II .

Erica Balqué also acted as a narrator in several radio plays by Helmut Käutner. In addition, she worked as a costume designer for the production of the feature film Sky Without Stars .
