Gert Karl Schaefer , also Gert Schaefer , (born August 9, 1920 in Kokand , Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of Turkestan , † November 27, 1996 in Lübeck , Germany ) was a German actor.

Life

Schaefer graduated from the drama school of the German Theater in Berlin from 1941 to 1943 . From 1945 to 1946 he was engaged at the Jürgen Fehling Theater in Berlin ; He made his stage debut there in 1945 as the lion in George Bernard Shaw's Androclus and the Lion . This was followed by further engagements in Berlin at the Hebbel Theater (1946/47), at the Deutsches Theater (1948–50), at Bertolt Brecht's Berliner Ensemble (1950–52), at the Schillertheater (1952/53) and again at the Berliner Ensemble (1953 / 54). From 1949 to 1951 he also played in several DEFA films .

In 1954 he went to Göttingen , where he was part of the ensemble of the German Theater .

He was married to actress Eva Brumby . The couple had four children, including the actors Susanne Schaefer and Gert Schaefer .
