Erich Sieburg

Erich Sieburg (born March 26, 1878 in Duisburg ; † June 21, 1947 ) was a German writer .

Life

Erich Sieburg was a half-brother of the journalist Friedrich Sieburg . Erich Sieburg spent his childhood in Borken and Münster , where he attended the Paulinum high school . He studied German , history and philosophy at the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin . In 1903 he earned his doctorate in philosophy with a thesis on a drama by Otto Ludwig . After he had passed the state examination in Münster , he completed his probationary period as a teacher from 1906 to 1907 at a secondary school in Aachen . From 1908 to 1942 he worked as a teacher at the municipal high school in Herne . Sieburg was a staunch opponent of the National Socialists and reacted to their seizure of power in 1933 by withdrawing from public life.

In addition to essays on literary studies and theater from the 1920s, Erich Sieburg also wrote novels , short stories and plays .
