Erik Mellevold Bråthen (born September 16, 1987 in Halden ) is a Norwegian football player . The goalkeeper currently plays for Rosenborg Trondheim in the Norwegian Tippeligaen .

Club career

Erik Mellevold Bråthen was born in Halden, a part of the province of Østfold which is in the southeast of Norway, near the border with Sweden. He played there for the local Kvik Halden FK until he was 19, before moving to Fredrikstad FK in January 2007 , where he signed for three years. The tall goalkeeper made his debut for Fredrikstad on matchday three of the 2007 season in the away game at Aalesunds FK . In the game that was played in the Color Line Stadium , he came into the game with a score of 3: 2 for Aalesunds in the 46th minute of the game for the injured Rami Shaaban . In the end it was 3: 3, Tarik Elyounoussi was able to save the point for the guests from Fredrikstad.

In the 2008 season Bråthen broke his hand and was out for a long time. After recovering, he couldn't get past Rami Shaaban, who was also playing in the Swedish national team at the time. After Shaaban left the club in the direction of Sweden to Hammarby IF at the end of the 2008 season , Bråthen remained loyal to the club as a possible new goalkeeper.

At the beginning of the 2009 season he fought with Lasse Staw for the place in the goal, which the two-year-old Staw could win. Bråthen only played against Molde FK on Matchday 14 after Staw sustained a hand injury. On the following 4 game days he also came to missions there but never conceded a goal. Due to the long-term injury of the regular goalkeeper, the club's management decided to sign two more goalkeepers, Daniel Örlund and Tommy Runar . At the end of the season, the club came down to two in the Tippeligaen.

In the 2010 season he did not play a single minute, Lasse Staw and the loan signing Kyriakos Stamatopoulos came to appearances .

He did not extend his expiring contract in Fredrikstad and moved to Norwegian record champions Rosenborg Trondheim on a free transfer . At Rosenborg he came to his first appearance on the 5th match day of the 2011 season against Vålerenga Oslo .

National team

Bråthen has played for Norway since the U-18s. For which he made his debut on April 26, 2005 against Switzerland. With the U-19s he lost his debut game against Italy in March 2006 2-0. For the Norwegian U-21 he has so far been on two missions.
