Erik Tummers (born May 1, 1985 in Geleen ) is a former Dutch ice hockey player who was under contract with the Eaters Geleen for most of his career . With the club he was twice Dutch champion . He previously won the title with the Nijmegen Emperors .

Career

Clubs

Erik Tummers began his career as an ice hockey player with the Geleener district club from Limbricht. In the 2002/03 season he made his debut in the Ehrendivision with the Eaters Geleen , but played mostly in the second team in the Eerste divisie . After he spent the 2003/04 season for the U20 of the Växjö Lakers in the Swedish J20 Elit, he then returned to the Netherlands and played there for three years for the Nijmegen Emperors in the honor division. With the Gelderlander he won the Dutch championship in 2006 . In 2007 he returned to the Eaters Geleen, for whom he has played ever since. With the club from his hometown, he won the Dutch Cup in 2010 and the championship in 2012. In his last season in 2015/16 he played with the club in the newly founded BeNe League .

International

For the Netherlands Tummers took part in the games of the U18 World Cup in Division II in 2002 and 2003 and the U20 Junior World Championships in 2004 and 2005, also in Division II.

At the World Cup Division I in 2006 he made his debut for the men's national team . He was also on the ice for the Dutch in Division I at the 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2011 , 2014 and 2015 World Championships . After relegation in 2015, he played with the Dutch at the 2016 World Cup in Division II and, as top scorer, best assists and best defender, as well as with the best plus / minus balance of the tournament, made a significant contribution to the immediate resurgence.

He also represented his colors in qualifying for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver .
