Geleen ( Limburgish Gelaen ) is a place in the Dutch province of Limburg with around 31,825 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2018). The previously independent city merged on January 1, 2001 with the northern city of Sittard and the municipality of Born to form the newly founded city of Sittard-Geleen , which is almost a large city at 92,606. Geleen is the second largest district of the city after Sittard.
Geleen is one of the earliest settlements for linear ceramicists in the region.

Geleen is located in the south of the Netherlands between the Meuse , which forms the border with Belgium in the west , and the border with Germany in the east. The coordinates are 50 ° 58'10 "N and 5 ° 49'37" E and the postcodes are 6160–6167.
