Ernst August Oeding

Ernst August Oeding (born August 14, 1896 , † April 6, 1976 in Braunschweig ) was a German printer's owner and publisher .

Life

Oeding came from a family of book printers. In 1840 his grandfather Friedrich Martin Meinicke had acquired the printing house founded by Karl Reichard in Braunschweig in 1797. His father Hans Oeding joined the company in 1881, which he had been running under his name since 1883. Ernst August Oeding studied philology and then completed training as a master typesetter at the technical center in Leipzig. In 1922 he joined his father's company with his two brothers. The printing plant, which was destroyed during the Second World War , was rebuilt from 1948 to 1955, equipped with modern machines and a publishing house was added. In 1955, Oeding became the sole owner of Oeding Druck und Verlag GmbH. The company became known in the Braunschweig region by co -publishing the local telephone book , the Heimatbote of the Braunschweig district and the annual Braunschweig guide for the city and the surrounding area . In addition to the headquarters in Braunschweig, branches were set up in Hanover and Schöppenstedt.

Oeding was active in various associations, some on a voluntary basis. He was chairman of the apprentice examination committee and the master examination committee of the graphic trade. He was Vice President of the Braunschweig Chamber of Commerce until 1944 . Oeding died in Braunschweig in 1976. He was buried in the main cemetery there.
