Ernst Bahr (politician)

Ernst Bahr (born June 11, 1945 in Chlum u Dubé , Czechoslovakia ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1994 to 2009 .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Rheinsberg in 1964 , Bahr completed a degree in mathematics and astronomy at the Potsdam University of Education , which he completed in 1968 as a qualified teacher. He then worked as a teacher until 1989, first in Linum and later in Fehrbellin .

Political party

In 1989 Bahr was one of the founding members of the Social Democratic Party of the GDR in Neuruppin . From 1990 to 2005 he was chairman of the SPD sub-district Ostprignitz-Ruppin and from 1992 to 1994 deputy state chairman of the SPD in Brandenburg .

MP

From 1990 to 1996 Bahr belonged to the district council of the Neuruppin district and from 1993 to the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district.

From 1994 to 2009 he was a member of the German Bundestag . From 1998 to 2002 he was the spokesman for the state group of Brandenburg and East German members of the SPD parliamentary group . In the 16th legislative period (2005–2009) he represented his parliamentary group in the audit and budget committees.

Ernst Bahr entered the Bundestag in 1994 and 1998 as a directly elected member of the constituency Neuruppin - Kyritz - Wittstock - Pritzwalk - Perleberg and since 2002 of the constituency Prignitz - Ostprignitz-Ruppin - Havelland I. In the 2005 Bundestag election , he received 38.5% of the first votes .

In the 2009 Bundestag election , he no longer ran for the German Bundestag; the successor in his constituency was Dagmar Ziegler .

Public offices

Bahr was 1990-1993 District Administrator of the district Neuruppin .

In 2005, Bahr was the SPD's candidate for the office of mayor of Neuruppin . In the first ballot he narrowly missed the absolute majority with 49.80% of the vote. In the runoff election on February 6, 2005, he lost to Jens-Peter Golde , who won 50.26% of the vote.
