Ernst Barth

Ernst Barth (born March 1, 1909 in Chemnitz ; † July 27, 1992 there ) was a German educator and local researcher in the Ore Mountains .

Life

After attending commercial school, Barth learned the trade of a businessman in a grocery wholesaler and then worked as a commercial clerk in a textile factory in Württemberg . In 1932 he returned to Chemnitz and worked in his father's business. In 1939 he made up his Abitur. During the Second World War he was called up and became a prisoner of war. After his release at the end of 1945, he successfully applied as a new teacher of English and German at what would later become the Karl Marx School in Chemnitz. In 1946 he joined the newly founded SED .

From 1949 Barth worked part-time as a history teacher at the evening school, which later became the adult education center in Chemnitz. In 1953 he passed the state examination in history and began to work and publish in the field of Chemnitz city history .

In 1968 he received his doctorate. rer. oec. and in the same year took over the editing for political economy in the basic course at the pedagogical college "Ernst Schneller" in Zwickau . He was a member of the editorial team of the Erzgebirge Homeland Papers .
