Ernst Gerhard Dresel
Gustav Ernst Gerhard Dresel (born September 3, 1885 in Buckau near Magdeburg , Province of Saxony , † September 25, 1964 in Sehringen , Baden ) was a German hygienist and bacteriologist.
biography
Dresel was the son of Carl Edmund Otto Kaufmann (1851–1887) and Charlotte Wilhelmine Jenny (1861 – after 1923). In 1911 he married Ilse Laura Marie Auguste Koenenkamp (1889–1982) from Bremen, who u. a. Studied archeology, languages and history and was editor at Weser-Kurier after 1945 . After graduating from high school in 1905, Dresel studied medicine at the Kaiser-Wilhelms-Universität Strasbourg , the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin , the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel and the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . In 1907 he became active in the Corps Saxonia Bonn . Finally he went to the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . He passed the state examination in 1910 and worked as an intern in the internal clinic and in the Hygiene Institute of Heidelberg University, which made him Dr. med. PhD . From 1911 to 1913 he completed a second degree in political and camera science, which he received as Dr. phil. completed. In 1914 Dresel became a private lecturer in bacteriology and hygiene at this university, and in the following year he completed his habilitation there. He worked from 1921 to 1926 as an associate professor in Heidelberg. From 1926 to 1934 he was full professor and director of the Hygiene Institute at the University of Greifswald .
In 1934 he became a full professor for hygiene and bacteriology at the University of Leipzig . He felt connected to the National Socialist racial hygiene , which ultimately denied terminally ill and disabled people the right to life. In 1936 he became a member of the SS .
In 1945 the American occupation authorities arrested him and revoked his chair. In 1948 he worked as a scientific advisor to a chemical factory in Bremen and in 1949 as a company doctor and HR manager for a shipping company. From 1950 to 1956, Dresel was the owner of a research institute for bacteriology and serology in Bremen. Most recently he lived in Sehringen (Badenweiler).
