Ernst Karding

Ernst Karding (born June 6, 1879 in Landsberg (Warthe) ; † August 12, 1964 in Flensburg ) was a German football player , civil servant in the senior judicial service and most recently a bank director.

Karding, who comes from the Prussian province of Brandenburg , began studying law in Freiburg im Breisgau and later graduated in Halle an der Saale .

During his studies in Freiburg im Breisgau , he and other football enthusiasts founded the Freiburg FC on December 17, 1897 , for which he played as a goalkeeper from then until June 1900 .

With the team, he also took part in the final round of the South German Championship 1898/99, which was organized by the Association of South German Football Associations , which was founded in Karlsruhe on October 17 of the same year . From the first officially held competition, in which eight, including six of the eight founding clubs of the association, took part in cup mode , he and his team emerged as the first South German champion. The final against 1. FC Pforzheim , held in Karlsruhe on January 8, 1899 , was won 6-1. From 1898 to 1900 he was also secretary of the association.
