from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ernst Maria Johan Nepomuk von Limburg-Styrum (born March 16, 1736 at Styrum Castle in Mülheim an der Ruhr ; † March 23, 1809 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German nobleman, Count of Limburg by descent and Lord of Styrum by heir .

Life

Ernst Maria was the son of Count Christian Otto von Limburg-Styrum and his wife Princess Karoline Sofie zu Hohenlohe -Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst (* April 20, 1705, † August 31, 1758). He married Sofie Charlotte von Humbracht on May 6, 1783 at Styrum Castle (* January 10, 1762, † March 10, 1805). The marriage remained childless.

After the death of his brother Philipp Ferdinand in 1794, Ernst Maria took over the government of Styrum . In the same year the rule of Oberstein was lost to revolutionary France , which Oberstein incorporated into the Département de la Sarre . For this loss in 1803 the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss awarded him 12,000 florins annual pension, paid out by the Duchy of Württemberg , as compensation. With the creation of the Rhine Confederation on July 12, 1806, Ernst Maria's power over Styrum ended.

Ernst Maria died on March 23, 1809 on the way to Frankfurt, where he wanted to marry his sister-in-law Maria Margaretha von Humbracht (* 1755; † 1827 in Frankfurt). This inherited the property of the former rule of Styrum from her brother-in-law.
