Act

Ernst Navratil mainly devoted himself to the diagnosis and therapy of cervical cancer and earned a reputation as an excellent surgeon, both in the Wertheim-Meigs operation and in the Schauta-Stoeckel operation . A close friendship connected him to the American gynecologist Joe Vincent Meigs , who after 1945 inspired him to introduce cytology as a diagnostic method for the early detection of cervical cancer . Together with the colposcopy , Navratil coined the term for the search for crab tracks . Together with Erich Burghardt and Fritz Bajardi, Navratil was able to demonstrate the importance of the early stages ( cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and carcinoma in situ ) of cervical carcinoma. Ernst Navratil published 130 articles in specialist journals, 14 book chapters and two scientific films. He was a member of 23 international gynecological specialist societies and was appointed honorary member of several specialist societies.
