Ernst Wilhelm Bursche
Ernst Wilhelm Bursche (born May 9, 1831 in Turek ; † April 6, 1904 in Zgierz ) was pastor of the Evangelical Augsburg denomination, pastor in Zgierz. He was the eldest son of the weaver Joachim Gotthelf Bursche (* 1803), who immigrated to Turek from Oppach .
Ernst Wilhelm Bursche attended elementary school in Niesky in Saxony . His parents died in 1852 and 1853. In 1854 he began his studies at the Faculty of Protestant Theology at the University of Dorpat , which he finished in 1858. During his studies he was a member of Konwent Polonia .
He was married twice: with Mathilde Müller († 1875) and in 1879 with Mathilde Harmel. He became the father of nine sons and three daughters.
- His first-born son Juliusz Bursche (1862-1942) became general superintendent and bishop of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .
- Emil Bursche († 1934) became a surgeon and chief physician at the Protestant hospital in Warsaw.

Ernst Wilhelm Bursche was ordained on August 15, 1865 and began his vicariate in Lipno , on December 1, 1858 in Kalisz , and in June 1863 in the Trinity congregation in Łódź .
On September 4, 1865 he became administrator and on October 7, 1866 pastor of the Evangelical Augsburg congregation in Zgierz; he held this post until the end of his life.
From 1897 he was also superintendent of the diocese of Płock .
