Ernst Wolf Mommsen
Ernst Wolf Mommsen (born May 12, 1910 in Charlottenburg ; † January 23, 1979 in Düsseldorf ) was a German lawyer , government official and manager in the coal and steel industry .
Life
Ernst Wolf Mommsen is a son of the physician Ernst Mommsen, a grandson of Theodor Mommsen and a brother of Theodor Ernst Mommsen .
Mommsen studied law and economics from 1930 to 1935 . In 1937 Mommsen joined the NSDAP . From 1938 to 1939 he worked as a lawyer . Then he was employed by the Reichsgruppe Industrie . In the Reich Ministry for Armaments and Ammunition under Albert Speer , he was the main department head responsible for the war economy and later for ammunition procurement, and at that time came into contact with the Krupp Group at the Bertha factory .
Mommsen was imprisoned by the Allies from 1945 to 1946 after the Second World War .
Mommsen was appointed managing director at Klöckner in 1946 . From 1948 to 1953 he was managing director of the rolled steel association; from 1953 to 1954 deputy chairman of Klöckner AG . From 1954 to 1965 he was a member of the board of the Rheinische Röhrenwerke AG . From 1965 to 1970 he was CEO of Thyssen Röhrenwerke AG . From 1970 to 1972 he was State Secretary for Technology and Procurement in the Federal Ministry of Defense under Minister Helmut Schmidt . In 1972 he was State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Finance . From 1973 to 1975 he was CEO of Friedrich Krupp AG . From 1959 to 1978 he was a member of the Advisory Board of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation .
From his first marriage to Ruth Seegert he had a daughter and he adopted the son of his second wife Eva Connor. After the war he wrote a number of business books.
Ernst Wolf Mommsen died in 1979 at the age of 68. His grave is in the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Cemetery in Berlin-Westend .
