Ernst von Khuon

Ernst von Khuon-Wildegg (born August 11, 1915 in Pasing ; † January 31, 1997 in Munich ) was a German radio and television journalist and author of non-fiction books and novels.

Life

After a private degree in the history of culture and technology, he was a science reporter for the Reichsender München from 1935 . From 1939 to 1945 he was a war reporter in the Air Force as a member of a propaganda company .

After the war he was first a specialist correspondent for science and technology at Südwestfunk (from 1948), then (from 1963 to 1977) SWF chief reporter for radio and television. He has received numerous prizes and awards. In addition to his journalistic work, he wrote several radio plays and audio episodes, documentaries , popular science non-fiction books and science fiction novels (including Helium 1949, radio play version 1950).

Von Khuon gained great popularity through the ARD moon flight reports in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The book he published, Were the Gods Astronauts? , in which scientists dealt critically with the theses of Erich von Däniken . Von Khuon was by no means a sworn opponent of frontier research into the past. So he steered z. B. 1976 a friendly and approving preface to Otto Muck's bestseller Alles über Atlantis .

Ernst von Khuon died in 1997 at the age of 81. His final resting place is in the cemetery of Oberhaching , district of Munich .
