The Erpetalbrücke is a 90 m long, single-track railway viaduct on the Volkmarsen – Vellmar-Obervellmar line ( route number 3903) near Wolfhagen in the north Hessian district of Kassel . The arched bridge with five arches opened in 1896 is a cultural monument according to the Hessian Monument Protection Act .
Geographical location
The bridge is part of the Volkmarsen – Vellmar-Obervellmar railway between the Wolfhagen core city in the southwest and the Wolfhagen district of Altenhasungen in the east in the Habichtswald Nature Park, about 300 m east-southeast of the Schützeberg ( 277.2 m above sea level ). It leads in the transition area of Altenhasunger Graben and Ehringer Senke between the Schützeberg, the south-eastern Helfenberg ( 366.2 m ; former location of Helfenberg Castle ) and the south-south- western Ofenberg ( 372.5 m ) over the Twiste tributary Erpe and the district road 103, which leads past the Schützeberg and the Oleimühle and Neuen Mühle , and then past the Schützeberger Hof about southeast to Philippinenthal . About 1.4 km north-west of the viaduct is the Elmarshausen moated castle , downstream on the Erpe .
