Erwin Barth from Wehrenalp

Erwin Barth von Wehrenalp (born September 25, 1911 in Dresden , † April 21, 1996 in Paris ) was an Austrian publicist and publisher .

Life

Erwin Barth von Wehrenalp - a son of the doctor Burkhard Barth von Wehrenalp - grew up in Vienna , where he attended high school. From 1930 to 1932 he worked as a dramaturge at the Vienna German Volkstheater and then from 1932 to 1933 at the Berlin German Volkstheater . After the seizure of power in 1933, Barth von Wehrenalp was banned from working, which induced him to deal with journalism and generally understandable scientific journalism. In this capacity he worked from 1935 to 1945 in Berlin for the Chemical Industry Economic Group .

After the Second World War , Barth von Wehrenalp was co-editor of the magazine Chemische Industrie in 1949 - together with Siegfried Balke .

On November 25, 1950, Erwin Barth von Wehrenalp founded Econ Verlag in the press house on Düsseldorf's Martin-Luther-Platz . Due to his success, the publisher is considered to be the inventor of the German non-fiction book . After selling his shares in the publishing house in 1981, Barth von Wehrenalp returned to Austria.

His grave is on the Père Lachaise in Paris.
