Junker and Thin Head

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Junker und Dünnhaupt (also written Junker & Dünnhaupt or Junker u. Dünnhaupt ) was an influential German publishing house during the Weimar Republic and National Socialism . It was officially founded in Berlin in 1927 by Paul W. Junker and Rudolf Dünnhaupt and existed until after the end of the Second World War.

history

Paul W. Junker had received his doctorate in philosophy (1922) and politics (1924) and was most recently managing director of the German Philosophical Society . He was also the author of his publishing house and its successor.

Rudolf Dünnhaupt (1894–1978), the son of a Dessau printing company owner , brought his inheritance to the Berlin publishing house. After Rudolf Dünnhaupt left in 1927, his father's Dessau company C. Dünnhaupt Hofbuchdruckerei and Verlag was continued by his brother Heinrich Dünnhaupt.

After being released as a war volunteer , Rudolf Dünnhaupt attended the colonial school in Witzenhausen in 1919 , where he was a studymate of the later Reich Minister of Agriculture, Richard Walther Darré . Like Junker, Dünnhaupt received his doctorate in philosophy from Hermann Schwarz in Greifswald in 1926 . Your academic teacher also became a lead author for the publisher. In the early days, the publishing program consisted mainly of dissertations and commissioned work, with the pages of the German Philosophical Society being a constant from the start. The focus of the publications was politics , economics , philosophy , law and militaria , whereby the cooperation with the German University of Politics and its President Paul Meier-Benneckenstein should be emphasized.

Due to its proximity to National Socialism , the publishing house was banned by the Allies in 1945 . The successor shareholder was the Athenäum Verlag , founded in the mid-1950s , which was later sold to the S. Fischer Verlag. Some titles were still published as reprints by Keip Verlag Goldbach and the Wissenschaftliche Buchgesellschaft.
