The Patriarchate of Jerusalem ( Latin : Archidioecesis Hierosolymitanus ) is the Archeparchy of Jerusalem of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church . The archdiocese comprises the autonomous region of Palestine and has its seat in Jerusalem.
history
In 1772 the Melkite Patriarch of Antioch was appointed Apostolic Administrator for the Archeparchy of Jerusalem. He looks after the Christians of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church, who have their home in Jerusalem. Since 1838 received with Maximos III. Mazlom gave the Patriarch of Antioch the title "Patriarch of Antioch, Jerusalem and all the East and Alexandria". Also since 1838 patriarchal vicars , who did not always have the rank of bishop , have been installed in the Archeparch of Jerusalem .
