The Escheberg is located in the Hessian Spessart Nature Park . To the west of the mountain is the village of Schwarzenfels , with the hamlet Güntershöfe to the south and the Sinntaler Grieshof (Hesse) a little south-southeast of it , which like the mountain belong to the municipality of Sinntal, and the Zeitlofser Grieshof ( Bavaria ) to the south . A little to the northeast is the Züntersbach district of Sinntal . At the western foot of the mountain, below Schwarzenfels, the Schmale Sinn flows roughly in a north-south direction , the upper valley of which at Mottgers separates the Rhön and Spessart low mountain ranges .
The north-west neighbor is the Hopfenberg ( 491.5 m ), the north-north-east of the Stift ( 567.7 m ) and to the east the Krechenberg (approx. 453 m ). Its southern branch is the Kälberberg ( 436.2 m ), to which south of it the Schlageller ( 435.2 m ) and beyond it another elevation called Kälberberg (approx. 426 m ) connect. Beyond the Krechenberg and the last-mentioned mountains lies the valley of the sense - including the Zeitlofs districts of Eckarts , Rupboden and Trübenbrunn in neighboring Bavaria and the nearby town of Bad Brückenau .

The Escheberg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Osthessisches Bergland (No. 35), in the main unit Vorder- und Kuppenrhön (353) and in the subunit Kuppenrhön (353.2) to the natural area Brückenauer Kuppenrhön (353.20).

Traffic and walking
State road 3180 runs north past the Escheberg and connects Mottgers in the west-south-west through Schwarzenfels with Züntersbach in the east-northeast. For example, starting on this street or on its side streets in Schwarzenfels, the mountain can be hiked on forest paths and paths. In the lower part of the western flank of the Escheberg, the high-speed line Hanover – Würzburg runs above the Schmalen Sinn in the 2.12 km long Schwarzenfelstunnel .
