Donkey height (Spessart)
The Eselshöhe is a wooded ridge in the center of the Spessart in the Aschaffenburg district in Bavaria . It extends from the slopes west of Wiesen to north of Wintersbach . The highest point is the Schindershöh at 522 m above sea level. NHN north of Heinrichsthal , there is a telecommunications tower .
Surname
The name Eselshöhe comes from a time when salt was brought over the ridge by donkey caravans on the donkey path in the Middle Ages . In some areas of the ridge, the name Eselshöhe has been completely lost. In the northern part the name Englishman is mistakenly used.
geography
The Eselshöhe extends north-south on the Spessart main ridge. The state road 2305 ( Spessart-Höhenstraße ) near the village of Wiesen can be seen as the northernmost point . The ridge stretches along the places Heinrichsthal, Jakobsthal , Heigenbrücken , Rothenbuch , Weibersbrunn , Mespelbrunn , Heimbuchenthal to Wintersbach, where it is bordered by the valley of the Dammbach .
