The wooded mountain is located in the Bavarian district of Aschaffenburg, east of Hain im Spessart , a district of Laufach , and south of Heigenbrücken .
The Schwarzkopf Tunnel, which connected the two villages of Laufach and Heigenbrücken by rail until June 15, 2017, does not cross under the summit of the mountain, but rather the saddle between Schwarzkopf and the Falkenberg ( 444 m ) to the northwest .
