history

The first written mention of the village between the Kaiserwald and the Aspenwald was made in 1246.

After the abolition of patrimonial Espenthor formed a municipality in the Karlsbad district from 1850. In 1869 Espenthor had 424 inhabitants. Between 1929 and 1931 the airfield was built south of the village. In 1933, the reinforced concrete hangar was completed. As a result of the Munich Agreement , Espenthor was annexed to the German Reich in 1938 and initially assigned to the Karlsbad district . On May 1, 1939, it was incorporated into Karlsbad. A satellite camp of the Flossenbürg concentration camp was operated in Espenthor from November 9, 1938 to June 30, 1939 . Until 1945 Espenthor was part of the Karlsbad district and came back to Czechoslovakia after the end of the Second World War.

After the end of the war, the incorporation was retained. From 1949, the Sokol Karlovy Vary Association began to restore the country's oldest golf course, which had been in existence since 1904 and which had been devastated during World War II. Since this did not succeed, the club built a new golf course near Olšová Vrata. In 1950 there were 340 people in Olšová Vrata. After the dissolution of the Okres Karlovy Vary-město, the place belonged to the Okres Karlovy Vary from 1961. In 1998 the village had 363 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 112 houses in which 353 people lived.
