Estanislao Fernandez

Estanislao A. Fernandez (born March 28, 1910 in Liliw , Laguna , † July 28, 1982 ) was a Filipino judge and politician .

biography

After attending school, he studied law and graduated from criminal law in 1933 as the fourth-best student in his year. He then practiced as a lawyer , where he also represented criminal cases before the courts of the United States . He was also a member of the Upsilon Sigma Phi North America, Inc. fraternity , which has spawned numerous leading politicians in the Philippines.

As a candidate for the Liberal Party, he was elected a member of the House of Representatives in 1949 , where he represented the 2nd constituency of the Laguna province until 1953 , which included his place of residence, Pagsanjan .

In the elections of November 10, 1959, he was the first "Pagsanjeño" to be elected a member of the Senate . During his election period, which lasted until 1965, he was last from 1962 to 1965 Minority Floor Leader and thus leader of the opposition in the Senate.

In addition, he was a member of the constitutional convention in 1971. After his resignation, he was appointed Associate Judge at the Supreme Court in 1973 and was a member of the Supreme Court until he retired in 1975.
