1-Butyne is a hydrocarbon from the homologous series of alkynes and isomeric to 2-butyne .
Extraction and presentation
1-Butyne can be obtained by reacting ethyne with a haloethane (e.g. bromoethane ).
properties
1-Butyne is a highly flammable gas which forms explosive mixtures with air or oxygen over a wide range of concentrations. Due to its triple bond , 1-butyne is very reactive. So it will readily add halogens . 1-Butyne has a narcotic effect in higher concentrations.
It has a critical temperature of 190.6 ° C, a critical pressure of 48.6 bar, a critical density of 0.245 kg / l and a triple point temperature of −125.7 ° C.
