Eugene Heck

Wilhelm Eugen Heck (born May 28, 1897 in Bregenz , † April 1987 in Tübingen ) was a German high school teacher who pioneered the Franco-German relationship in the school system.

Life

After graduating from the Realgymnasium in Stuttgart in 1922 , Heck studied philosophy and modern languages at the universities of Tübingen , Paris , Geneva and London . He has the study in 1926 with the promotion of Dr. phil. completed. In Tübingen he was active in the student union Landsmannschaft Scotland .

Between 1929 and 1945 he taught at high schools in Stuttgart, Leonberg and Heilbronn . He then went to the Kepler Gymnasium in Tübingen , where he retired in 1964. Since the spring of 1953, in collaboration with his colleague Auguste Gardette, high school professor at the Lycée Chaptal in Paris, he has ensured that French young people can spend a few weeks with host families in the Tübingen district twice a year. By the mid-1970s, well over 2,000 boys and then girls came there. He did detailed work at the grassroots level, investing a lot of energy and time on this matter without receiving grants from the Franco-German Youth Office or from any other bodies.
