Life

After visiting the Katharineum until Easter 1878, he studied medicine at the University of Tübingen and continued his studies at the Leipzig University . He completed his state examination in 1883 as a doctor of medicine with summa cum laude . This was followed by several years as an assistant and ward physician at the surgical clinic of Professor Dr. Thiersch .

He returned to his hometown in 1886.

For many years he managed the library of the Medical Association and became its chairman . He owed his appointment as a member of the Medical Court of Honor to the appreciation of the association .

At the beginning of the First World War , the war directorate in Altona , the seat of the XI. Army Corps , had a barrack camp built on the Liibeck castle field , as the place was considered particularly suitable. The organization and management of the barracks hospital was entrusted to the Lübeck chief medical officer of the reserve . Even when it was planned, it was assumed that it would be the largest in the north. It is said that the hospital was one of the largest within the empire in this war , or was the largest. His activity there he was awarded the Lübeck Hanseatic Cross by the Senate of the Hanseatic City on October 18, 1916 . His achievements were also recognized with the Iron Cross .

On May 1 and 2, 1916, an extraordinary congress of internal medicine was held in Warsaw , which was under German administration, and was attended mainly by military doctors . The representatives of Lübeck at that congress were the senior staff doctors Dr. Plessing, who is in the field with a reserve medical company , Dr. Wex and the head of the lung ward in the Lübeck barracks hospital Dr. Ott.

After the war he continued his work. On the day of his death, he went to nursing care before suffering a stroke .
