Eva Meyer

Eva Meyer (* 1950 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German philosopher , writer and filmmaker .

life and work

Eva Meyer studied philosophy , art history , archeology and Romance studies in Freiburg and Berlin . At the Bochum puppet theater school she received training as a puppeteer . In Berlin she co-founded the women's bookshop Lilith and the feminist publishing house of the same name . In 1982 she received her doctorate with her work Counting and Telling: For a Semiotics of Feminine . She held various visiting professorships in Europe and the USA.

In her theoretical as well as literary , film and art criticism Eva Meyer has taken up suggestions of the philosophy of cybernetics by Gotthard Günther , the deconstruction of Jacques Derrida and the social philosophy of Hannah Arendt . In collaboration with the artist Eran Schaerf , she has also made a number of radio plays and films since the 1990s .

Elfriede Jelinek attested to Eva Meyer's theoretical essays : “She also has such a grace in theory . [...] She knows how to write things down without hatred and aggression. "
