Eva Rivas ( Armenian Եվա Ռիվաս , Russian Ева Ривас ; born July 13, 1987 in Rostov-on-Don ; actually Valerija Alexandrovna Reshetnikowa-Zaturjan ) is a Russian - Armenian singer. She represented Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Oslo with the song Apricot Stone .

biography

Eva Rivas was born Valerija Reschetnikowa-Zaturjan ( Russian Валерия Решетникова-аатурян ) in 1987 in the Soviet Union . Her father has Russian, Armenian and Greek ancestry. Your mother is from Armenia. She began her musical education in elementary school, where she was a member of the Armenian choir. In 1996 she joined the Armenian children's choir Arewik , which was based in her hometown, and was to be a member until 2004. During this time she interpreted both Russian and foreign-language pieces of various genres as a choir member and also appeared as a solo artist. With the ensemble she won several national awards in Russia and worked with the singer Arame. She was also successful as a solo singer. In 1997 Rivas won the Scarlet Flower youth competition , two years later at the Russian Delphi Games in Saratov , where she sang an Armenian song by the artist Rosi Armen.

Parallel to her singing career, Eva Rivas, who is over 1.90 m tall, trained as a model in 2003. At the same time, she successfully took part in several regional beauty contests and a year later she enrolled at the Southern Federal University of Rostov-on-Don for economics and international relations. In 2005 Rivas won the titles of Vice Miss Caucasus and the Golden Voice of Rostov . In the same year, the 17-year-old won the music competition Armenian Song of the Year and the Russian festival Pjatj Svjosd in Sochi and moved to Moscow . Then the producer Valeriy Saharyan became aware of Rivas, who has been taking care of her since December 2008 with his company Armenian Production .

In 2009 Rivas presented a work by the Armenian singer and poet Sayat Nova (1722–1795) during the Tashir competition with Tamam Aschkharh . In the same year a music video followed in which she interpreted the song. In 2010 Rivas took part for the first time in the Armenian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC). With the English-language pop song Apricot Stone , composed by Armen Martirosyan and Karen Kavaleryan (among others, lyricists of the ESC contributions by Dima Bilan , Dmitry Kaldun and Ani Lorak ) , she won the competition against eight competitors in mid-February. Rivas represented Armenia at the 55th Eurovision Song Contest on May 27, 2010 in Oslo in the second semi-final. She made it into the final, which took place two days later, where she finished seventh. Rivas was one of the favorites to win by international bookmakers.
