The Evangelical Church Eidinghausen in the Eidinghausen district of the city of Bad Oeynhausen is one of the two parish churches of the Evangelical Lutheran Parish Eidinghausen-Dehme, which belongs to the Vlotho parish of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia .

Building history and architecture

A church in Eidinghausen was first mentioned in a document in 1183. It was a separate church and later the patronage church of the Abdinghof monastery in Paderborn . The exact construction history is not known. In the 19th century there was a Gothic hall church . This was renovated in 1802, and the dilapidated church tower was replaced by a new building in 1866 . Between 1892 and 1896, the neo-Gothic church building with a cross-shaped floor plan, which still exists today, was built in place of the old church .

Furnishing

Several works of art from the previous building have been preserved in the church. There are remains of a late Gothic tabernacle with tracery and pinnacles . A grave slab dates from the second half of the 16th century, a twelve-lamp chandelier bears the year 1684. The sacrament device with a silver chalice , silver-plated wine jug and host container dates from the end of the 18th century. A silver paten is of unknown age.

The altar Bible , which was given to the community by Empress Auguste Viktoria , dates from the time it was built. The organ was built in 1971 by Alfred Führer in Wilhelmshaven .

The oldest of the three bells in the tower dates from 1682. Its inscription indicates that the three earlier bells were lost by the French in 1679 ( Northern War ). The two newer bells are from 1952.

The church was thoroughly renovated and rebuilt in 2012–13. Central innovations are a modern extension with toilets and a material room, the lowering of the inner level in order to achieve barrier-free access through the tower entrance and the redesign of the chancel. The new ensemble there, consisting of an altar, combination of cross / Easter candle, bible desk, lectern and baptismal font, was made of metal by Father Abraham (forge Abbey Königsmünster).
