The Evangelical Church of Hassel is a church in the St. Ingbert district of Hassel in Saarland . It was inaugurated in 1908 and belongs to the Homburg deanery of the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate . In the list of monuments of the Saarland the church building is a single monument listed.

history

The Protestant community in today's St. Ingbert district of Hassel has belonged to the parish of Kirkel-Neuhäusel since 1822 . From 1896 the pastor held a church service every three weeks in the schoolhouse at Lindenstrasse 12 in Hassel. A church building association was soon founded and a building site was bought. In September 1907, work began on the church according to plans by the architect Ludwig Wagner-Speyer and on October 11, 1908, the church was ceremoniously inaugurated.

In 1926 Hassel became an independent parish community and the first pastor, Heinrich Oberlinger (1900–1980) moved into the newly built parsonage. In 1950 the sister house behind the church was inaugurated and in 1977 the new kindergarten was officially opened. In May 1990 the Protestant meeting place was opened.

Furnishing

The art nouveau church also shows influences from the Beuron art school through its wall painting .

The church windows were created by Erich Buschle in 1954/55. They show the work of Jesus. Portraits of Martin Luther , Johannes Calvin and Gustav II Adolf are incorporated on the west side . The Easter window behind the altar was designed by György Lehoczky .

The font made of limestone from the Altmühltal was designed by Rolf Bodenseh and installed in 2007.

The two old cast steel bells were replaced by four new bronze bells in 1997. They sound in the classic Westminster chime and come from the Rincker bell and art foundry :

  • The Matthew bell (sound: a ′ / weight: 604 kg)
  • The Markus bell (sound: d ′ ′ / weight: 267 kg)
  • The Luke bell (sound: e ′ ′ / weight: 205 kg)
  • The Johannes bell (sound: fis ′ ′ / weight: 160 kg)
