Evelyn Stolze , today Evelyn Rund , (born January 8, 1954 in Erfurt ) is a former swimmer who competed for the GDR .

Career

Swimming career

Evelyn Stolze experienced her strongest years as a swimmer at the beginning of the 1970s, when she was European champion in Barcelona in the 400 meter medley with a new European record in 1970 and won the silver medal and the 200 meter butterfly the bronze medal in the same championships in the 200 meter medley.

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , she was fifth in the 400 meter medley, where she improved her European record in Barcelona in the run-up. She finished the competition in the 200 meter medley in sixth, where she also set a new European record in the run- up and improved Martina Grunert's three-year-old record by more than two seconds. After she remained without a medal, she then ended her swimming career.

Professional

After her swimming career, Evelyn Stolze studied medicine. Today she works as a resident specialist in dermatology in Berlin-Biesdorf.

Evelyn Stolze is married to the former water polo player Peter Rund and is the mother of the former European swimming champion Cathleen Rund .
