Ever Forthright is an American progressive metal band from New York City , which was founded in 2008 by musicians Billy Anderson and Nicholas Llerandi and is attributed to the Djent movement.

history

In 2008 the two guitarists Billy Anderson and Nicholas Llerandi, who both studied together at the state university of the US state New York in Purchase Jazz , founded the band. Together they began to write songs, which they recorded on the computer in Anderson's own studio and released on a demo that same year . Between 2008 and 2009 keyboardist Kevin Theodore and drummer Jerad Lippi, who also studied at the same university as Anderson and Llerandi, joined the band. Nicholas Llerandi's brother Jon also joined the band as bassist.

Looking for a suitable singer, the band found the singer and saxophonist Christopher Barretto on Facebook in 2010 , who had left Periphery shortly before . Jerad Lippi sent him an e-mail with the request to listen to the band's music and to join the band as a singer, whereupon Barretto, struck by leaving Periphery, rejected the band. Instead, he devoted himself to his two other bands, Friend for a Foe and Haunted Shores , where he moved to California after the latter left . Meanwhile, Billy Anderson created an advertisement on the online network Craigslist , to which a friend of Barretto's became aware and asked him to listen to the band's material, whereupon Barretto contacted the band via Myspace and shortly thereafter joined them.

In December 2011, Ever Forthright , the band's self-titled debut album on the independent label Myriad Records , was released after the band had decided on this. Except for two songs, all the songs on the album came from the previous demos and were all recorded at Billy Anderson's home, as no one agreed to cover the costs for the recording in a professional recording studio. In September 2012 the band went on tour through Canada for the first time alongside Intervals and Mandroid Echostar . Between June and July 2013, the band supported Last Chance to Reason and Evan Brewer on their US tour, after which the band released a new song from their upcoming album, Riot: Part I, in late July , and on a tour with Auras in August was seen in Canada. In October, the band will for the first time with Skyharbor and Twelve Foot Ninja by Europe tour where they, among other things on the euro Blast Festival in Cologne will be on display.

style

The band is characterized above all by constant rhythm changes . In addition to the elements of progressive metal, the band's influences range from jazz to hip-hop .
