Vince Neil, founding member and singer of the glam metal band Mötley Crüe , with whom he recorded the albums Too Fast for Love (1981), Shout at the Devil (1983), Theater of Pain (1985), Girls, Girls, Girls (1987 ) and Dr. Feelgood (1989), came across while working on the follow-up album to Dr. Feelgood because of his other activities that had nothing to do with the band, in dispute with the other band members and had to leave the group.

He put together his own band, for which he succeeded in hiring the Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens ; other members of the group were Dave Marshall ( guitar ), Robbie Crane ( bass ) and Vik Foxx ( drums ). At the time the album was recorded, neither Crane nor Marshall were already members of the band; all bass and guitar tracks were recorded by Steve Stevens.

First, the soundtrack to the film was released in 1992 Encino Man (German title: Encino Man ) on which the title You're Invited (But Your Friend Can not Come) was included, the Vince Neil, Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw had been written . The song hit the UK singles chart (# 64).

On April 27, 1993, Warner Brothers Records released the album Exposed , which debuted at number 13 on the Billboard 200 and stayed in the US charts for 13 weeks. In Germany it was only 96th place. The tracks Sister of Pain and Can't Change Me were released as singles , and the album also contained the sweet cover set Me Free . On the Maxi-CD at Sister of Pain also one was cover version of Rod Stewart -Songs Blondes Have More Fun as well be I Wanna Sedated ( Ramones ) published. The band toured the United States as opening act for Van Halen .

reception

Achim Karstens, reviewer of the German magazine Rock Hard , wrote about Exposed that it contained “loose, fluffy song material,” was of course “not miles away from the last Mötley album”. He emphasized that Neil and Stevens got along “very well” on the album , and for that reason alone “the album is developing into an extremely party-compatible output.” He concluded that after “Exposed” “even Mötley Crüe would have a hard time” , “ to go one better. ” Karstens awarded 8 out of 10 possible points for the album.
