F.-Dieter Bartels

Friedrich-Dieter Bartels or Dieter Bartels (born March 28, 1920 in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg ; † September 3, 2010 in Hungary ) was a German film architect .

Live and act

After studying in Weimar and Hamburg, Bartels came to film in 1948 and worked as an assistant or second architect for colleagues who were already established in the industry, above all Herbert Kirchhoff . From 1950 he was also the chief architect, again mostly with Kirchhoff as a colleague and partner.

Since 1959 Bartels has also created the buildings for international productions made in Germany. F.-Dieter Bartels was also involved in the decorations for numerous short and documentary films as well as television productions. He worked several times with the director Rolf Hädrich . Since the late 1950s, when he first worked with Jürgen Roland on the television crime series Stahlnetz , Bartels worked primarily in Hamburg. In the 1960s and 1970s he was also to set up several films for Roland, including the Davidswache police station , Four Keys , The Angels of St. Pauli and zinc coffins for the golden boys .
