F1 2016 is a racing game developed by Codemasters based on the 2016 Formula 1 World Championship and part of Codemasters Formula 1 series .

Due to the license to develop Formula 1 games owned by Codemasters (previously Sony), the game includes all 21 race tracks of the season, including the new Baku City Circuit . The game also includes all 11 teams - including the new Haas F1 Team - as well as all 22 drivers of the 2016 Formula 1 World Championship.

Weather

The game has a weather system that contains 6 different types of weather.

  1. Sunny - good weather where dry tires are best.
  2. Slightly cloudy - good weather usually colder, which is why softer mixtures are best.
  3. Cloudy - Mediocre weather, mostly low temperatures, which is why soft mixes are best.
  4. Light rain - bad weather where intermediates are best.
  5. Heavy rain - bad weather for which rain tires are best suited.
  6. Heavy rains which cause flooded spots on the route to worry. Very bad weather which is why even rain tires are overloaded and the safety car goes out.

The game received mostly positive reviews. The German-language game magazine GameStar certifies that the title is a significant leap in quality compared to its predecessor, F1 2015 . Codemasters have worked on almost all of the weaknesses of the previous title and, above all, the presentation of the career mode was very successful. However, the small scope, the damage models in need of improvement and the unsuccessful penalty system were criticized.

Game modes

The game has a quick start mode in which the player can create their own Grand Prix weekend or season. In addition, the game has a time mode in which the player can undercut other and his own times. There is also a career mode in which the player can create their own driver.
