Facts (to English facts , facts, facts ) was a weekly Swiss news magazine from 1995 to 2007 published by Tamedia .

Print medium

Facts appeared from April 1995 and was initially based on the German news magazine Focus . The magazine dealt mainly with current events, supplemented by a few reports. The most important competitors on the Swiss political and business magazine market were Die Weltwoche and Die Wochenzeitung as well as the business newspapers Bilanz and Cash . In 2001, Facts was in the black for the first time.

On June 20, 2007, Tamedia's board of directors announced that it would discontinue the magazine for economic reasons. Falling advertising income and start-ups such as NZZ am Sonntag (2002) and especially free newspapers such as 20 Minuten would cause economic problems for the magazine. The high fixed costs of a news magazine would be offset by permanently inadequate advertising revenues. On June 28, 2007, Facts was published for the last time in around twelve years. Facts recently had a circulation of 73,140 sold or 81,557 copies and reached 439,000 readers in German-speaking Switzerland, which at that time had a population of around 4.8 million.

Permanent categories were: Cover story, Switzerland, economy, knowledge, way of life (culture & society), abroad and sport.
