FCA Cassino plant

The FCA Cassino plant is an automotive plant of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles . It is located in the Italian region of Lazio , around five kilometers west of the city of Cassino , in the area of the municipality of Piedimonte San Germano , on the A1 motorway , Strada Statale 6 Via Casilina and the Rome – Cassino – Naples railway line .

history

The then Fiat factory was opened in 1972 on an area of 200 hectares to produce the Fiat 126 microcar there . In 1978 the production of this vehicle was relocated to Poland and the systems in Cassino were converted and automated (RoboGate). The Fiat 131 , Fiat Ritmo and Fiat Regata models were manufactured in Cassino until 1990 . In 1988, the factory was rebuilt to manufacture the Tipo with its galvanized body. The Fiat Tempra and the Marengo were built on its platform using a number of other components from the Tipo . At that time, the Cassino plant was able to produce around 1,000 vehicles a day. For the construction of the Fiat Stilo , the factory was completely rebuilt again in 2000, whereby the RobotGate production system was replaced by the new OpenGate. In 2003, total production since the plant was commissioned exceeded six million; However, this could not hide the low success of the Stilo. Production in Cassino has to be reduced temporarily and staff cut. At the same time, the production of Alfa Romeo and Lancia vehicles began . Today around 4,800 people work at the FCA Cassino plant.
