Fabian Franke (born March 7, 1989 in Leipzig ) is a German soccer player who has been under contract with SSV Markranstädt since August 2018 .

Career

Youth and Hamburger SV

Fabian Franke was born in Leipzig and played in his youth first for VfK Blau-Weiß Leipzig and then for Kickers 94 Markkleeberg . During the winter break of the 2005/06 season he moved to the then still existing FC Sachsen Leipzig and initially played in midfield. During the U-19 Bundesliga 2007/08 he was then mainly used as a defender for the Saxons. Among other things, he scored a goal against his future club Hamburger SV on matchday one , but could not prevent his team from relegating. In the following season Franke was signed for the second team of HSV. There he was only used twice in his first year, but trained with later well-known players such as Sidney Sam , Son Heung-min or Maximilian Beister . In his second season he played 14 times for Hamburg.

RB Leipzig

In July 2010, the defender returned to his home country and signed a two-year contract with the ambitious regional league promoted RB Leipzig . In the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons he missed the intended relay victory with Leipzig, which would have entitled him to direct promotion to the 3rd soccer league . In May 2011, Franke's contract was extended to summer 2014. The promotion finally succeeded in the following season 2012/13 . Here Franke first won the championship in the Regionalliga Nordost with Leipzig and then prevailed in two relegation games against Sportfreunde Lotte . Franke played 26 of the 30 league games (one goal) in the promotion season and was on the pitch full time in the relegation games. In April 2013, Franke's contract was extended for another year until summer 2015. In the subsequent third division 2013/14 season , coach Alexander Zorniger used him 23 times, 14 of them in the starting line-up. On the 18th matchday, in the away game against 1. FC Saarbrücken , he scored a goal. At the end of the season Franke rose with the team as second in the table in the 2nd Bundesliga . In the following second division season 2014/15 Franke was not used until February. The reason for this was a protracted irritation of the Achilles tendon.

For the 2015/16 season Franke moved to SV Wehen Wiesbaden . During the preparation for the season he suffered a torn Achilles tendon and only made his debut for SV Wehen Wiesbaden on matchday 27. Shortly after the start of the 2016/17 season, Franke moved to league rivals Hallescher FC . After two years in Halle , he moved back to the Leipzig area for SSV Markranstädt .

As a trainer

In November 2018 Franke became an intern in the scouting and video analysis department of RB Leipzig and also took on the assistant coaching position of the U-17 girls from RB Leipzig .
