Vehicle segment (European Commission)

The European Commission has defined the following vehicle segments for passenger cars for the purposes of market definition under competition law (market share calculations) . However, these are not to be confused with the EC vehicle classes for technical matters.

Compared to the classification of the German Federal Motor Transport Authority, this classification does not include the compact class, which is referred to here as the middle class. This gives the following consignment vehicle segments the name of the next higher KBA vehicle segment and, above that, the luxury class vehicle segment:
