Falk Bauer (* 1967 in Stuttgart ) is a German costume designer .

Life

Falk Bauer studied costume design at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg and then worked as Marianne Glittenberg's assistant at the Thalia Theater .

Create

Since 1994 he has worked as a costume designer for operas , drama and musicals . In the acting field he worked at the Schauspielhaus Zurich and the Akademietheater in Vienna, among others . His first work for the opera was a Tosca production for De Nederlandse Opera in 1996 , staged by Nikolaus Lehnhoff .

Bauer worked and works with directors such as Sven-Eric Bechtolf , Dieter Giesing , Jürgen Flimm , Amélie Niermeyer , Niels-Peter Rudolph and Joachim Schlömer . He has worked closely with Günter Krämer since 1996 , and he designed the costumes for his Salzburg Festival productions of Die Liebe der Danae (2002) and Mitridate, re di Ponto (2005). Bauer also worked with Krämer at the Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Mannheim Mozart Summer , at the State Operas of Dresden and Vienna , as well as for a complete Ring des Nibelungen at the Opéra National de Paris with Philippe Jordan at the podium. In addition to classical repertoire pieces - such as La clemenza di Tito , Nabucco or Die Fledermaus - the collaboration also included rarities such as Alessandro by Gian Francesco de Majo or Othmar Schoeck's Penthesilea . Krämer also engaged him regularly in the acting field, for example for all three plays by Georg Büchner .

Bauer also designed the costumes for two Robert Carsen productions that could be seen on numerous stages in Europe and North America: Ariadne auf Naxos in Berlin, Munich and Copenhagen, as well as Dialogues des Carmélites in Amsterdam, Antwerp, Chicago, Ljubljana, London and Madrid , Milan, Nice and Toronto. In May 2013 he was responsible for the costumes for the celebrated world premiere of Mieczysław Weinberg's Der Idiot in Mannheim, directed by Regula Gerber .
