history

Wilhelm Braun's letterhead, ca.1920

The factory had existed at the site since 1890, whereby around 1920 the main factory facilities of the company operating as a GmbH were still on the Feldmark property to the left of Bode 17 . Harzweg 13/14 was given as the address for administration and shipping. The company founder Wilhelm Brauns introduced aniline dyes for use in the household. With the company's products it was possible to dye laundry in the home. Around 1920, 370 people were employed in Quedlinburg. There were branches at home and abroad. Brochures were offered in 30 languages.

After the Second World War, Braun's heirs first founded a new aniline dye factory in Munich, which was sometimes called Wilbra Chemie after the founder's initials . In 1952, the new company's headquarters and production facilities were relocated to Bad Aibling . In 1969 there was a merger with the Warburg company Gebr. Heitmann zu Brauns-Heitmann . This operation still exists today.

architecture

Factory entrance

The factory buildings still preserved today (as of 2013) were built in 1930 according to plans by Hermann Baranke . A wide administration building stretches across the street. The entrance to the plant is to the west of the building, which is emphasized at this point by a small tower. The structure is cubic and staggered. Inside the building, a conference room has been preserved in its original state. On the ground floor there are etched glass panes facing the street. Currently (as of 2013) the building is empty and is in urgent need of renovation.
