Faruk Halilbegović (born September 7, 1987 in Sarajevo ) is a Bosnian-Herzegovinian handball player .

Career

The 1.97 m tall and 96 kg heavy Faruk Halilbegović played in his home country for RK Bosna Visoko, with whom he reached the second round in the 2007/08 EHF Cup . In 2009 he went to RK Borac Banja Luka , with whom he won the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Cup in 2011. In the EHF Cup 2009/10 he came into the second and 2010/11 in the third round. He then played for RK Bosna Sarajevo in the EHF Champions League 2011/12 in the group stage. For the 2012/13 season he moved to Qatar to al-Gharafa, where he signed a one-year contract with an option for another season. Since November 2013 he has been playing for the German Bundesliga club TV Emsdetten , with whom he was relegated to the 2nd handball Bundesliga in 2014 . At the end of the season, the TVE parted ways with Halilbegović. From then on he played for MKS Zagłębie Lubin in Poland and moved back to HF Springe in Germany in October 2015 . In March 2016, Halilbegović suffered a knee injury, whereupon he no longer played in the 2015/16 season. After Halilbegović was without a contract after the end of the season, he joined the Luxembourg club HB Käerjeng in January 2017 . He has been under contract with the Turkish club Selka Eskişehir SK since summer 2017.

Faruk Halilbegović was part of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian national team to qualify for the 2015 Men's Handball World Championship .
