Felcsút is a municipality in Fejér County in central Hungary with 1,788 inhabitants (as of 2011). Viktor Orbán , Prime Minister of Hungary since May 2010, grew up in Felcsút.

history

Felcsút was first mentioned in 1269. The name of the place is derived from the name "Csút" and "fel-" ("Felső"), which means "upper". In the Middle Ages the village was ruled by crusaders from Székesfehérvár and in the 15th century it became the property of the Paulines . Between 1500 and 1800 the owners and residents of the village changed frequently. The village's Roman Catholic Church was built in the classicism style between 1828 and 1840. The construction of the Protestant church was finished in 1895.

economy

In 2009 Felcsút became the richest place in Hungary in terms of per capita income (171,092 forints ). In 2008 he was still in 336th place in Hungary. Media reports see connections between the economic situation of the place and the misappropriation of EU funds by the Hungarian government led by Orbán. Mayor Lőrinc Mészáros , "who has been the best friend of the current Prime Minister since childhood," is considered the richest Hungarian with an estimated fortune of two billion euros.

Sports

The local soccer team of Puskás Akadémia FC played for three years from 2014 to 2016 in the highest Hungarian soccer league, the Nemzeti Bajnokság . From July 19 to 31, 2014, matches of the group stage of the U-19 European Football Championship 2014 took place in the Pancho Arena in Felcsút .
