action

The lively plush bunny Felix is on vacation with Sophie, her siblings Nicolas, Julius and Lena and their parents. You want to camp in a mountain area. On the way there, Sophie reads aloud from a book about elves. When the father has chosen a nice place to camp, they park there and set everything up. But Felix and Sophie immediately notice that the area looks exactly like it does in their book, and they fear they will camp in an elven ring that nobody is actually allowed to enter. This fear comes true despite attempts by parents to dissuade them from this belief. Even when setting up, the elves mess with everything to drive the family away. But the mysterious thing about the elves is that no one can see them - no one except Felix. He manages to catch an elf in his suitcase and stays awake when the elf king drops the family into a deep sleep and conjures up a giant troll. The Elven King, who refuses to take the advice of an owl, disregards an elven law that says that he must grant a wish to Felix, who captured an elf. With the help of the captured elf, Felix manages to distract the giant troll so that his family, surprised by the rockfall, can get into the car and drive away. From then on, Felix Sophie describes the events in letters.

The giant troll turns to stone at sunrise and is no longer a danger. The owl wants to bring Felix, whose suitcase and umbrella she now has and gives him, to her master, a poltergeist who is urgently looking for someone to play the "magic game" with him, which consists in one person asking the other a riddle wins who can solve it. The Poltergeist seems very bad at first sight, mostly because he's a very bad loser. Felix succeeds in flying away on a horse named Pegasus with finesse. But the Poltergeist, angry about the escape, follows him to a beach, where Felix outsmarts the very naive Poltergeist again and now flies away in an airplane. But in the middle of the Himalayas, the journey is over, because the aircraft's tank is empty. In the middle of the lonely snowy landscape, Felix meets a Yeti, whom he tracks down through its large footprints. The yeti, a loving and very shy creature, has a young human woman with him who is temporarily blind after losing her snow goggles and seeing the blinding snow. Felix and the Yeti, who become friends, take care of the young woman. Then Felix continues his journey on his suitcase.

Next stop is Scotland; Unable to swim, Felix ends up in Loch Ness, where a monster named Nessie saves him from drowning and brings him to the shore. But there it is caught by an evil man who wants to earn a million pounds with the creature. They drive off with his truck, Nessie in the trailer filled with water. Felix advises the man to use a steeper and more uneven road. In the end, the truck can no longer move forward there and Felix says to get on and push it from behind. In fact, however, he opens the trailer and drifts into the sea with Nessie. He saved Nessie and the two have become good friends. As a thank you, he is given a pearl.

The next stop is the Nautilus on the open sea, an ocean liner for extinct animals, on which Felix is recorded. There there is a mutiny between two bad-tempered dodos. But Felix manages to help the captain to bring the ship back under his command. The ship's destination is Atlantis, which the captain discovered a long time ago. There they get there thanks to Felix's help. The rediscovered island reveals itself as a natural paradise, in which the actually extinct animals of the Nautilus can live excellently. Felix has to continue his journey.

The poltergeist is there again. He was looking for Felix the whole time and now he has found him. He no longer wants to deny Felix, for whom he has great sympathy, his wish to fly home and uses magic to ensure that Felix can fly on his suitcase.

But before he goes home, he has to make a stopover in Romania due to heavy rain. He stays in a house where he is received in a cool but friendly manner. During the night vampires come into his room, which he tries to find the following morning. He succeeds in doing this through a secret passage in his room that leads to the beds of the vampires. It is actually normal children whom Felix shows the daylight and whom he convinces not to hide from the world.

Now the final journey home can be started. He arrives at Sophie and both she and the rest of the family are relieved and happy about Felix Wiederkehr.
