Felix Berg

Felix Berg (born December 19, 1980 in Berlin ) is a German professional climber and mountaineer .

Berg is one of the best all-round mountaineers in the world. He reached four eight-thousanders and seven seven-thousanders as well as difficult climbing tours in rock and ice. He works as an expedition leader and managing director for SummitClimb .

Life

Felix Berg started climbing at the age of 12 in the Berchtesgadener Land. Despite the distance to the mountains of Berlin, he intensified the sport during his school days on the artificial facilities of the capital, during the holidays in the mountains. After graduating from high school in 2000, I made my first trips abroad, first to South America , then to the Himalayas , and studied mathematics (diploma 2007) and physics. In Africa he achieved numerous first ascents on Mount Poi and Mount Kenya . At the age of 23, Felix Berg climbed Mount Everest as an expedition leader , making him the first Berlin and to date youngest German climber. While filming a book by Robert Steiner , Felix Berg was seriously injured by falling rocks in February 2012. After the rehabilitation, there were again ascents of high mountains, the shooting of new routes and sport climbing up to 8a on sight . He reached the eight-thousanders Broad Peak , Cho Oyu and Gasherbrum II without artificial oxygen. He climbed Gasherbrum II with Adam Bielecki via a new route variant through the west face.
