biography
Felix Monsén grew up in Saltsjöbaden , a suburb of Stockholm . At the age of twelve, he moved to Åre with his parents and brothers . During his youth, he also did a lot of sports away from the ski slopes, such as football , tennis and swimming .
Two weeks after his 15th birthday, he competed in his first FIS races in Tärnaby . In February 2011 he took part in the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Liberec and finished 59th in the giant slalom. Monsén made his European Cup debut on December 3, 2013 in the giant slalom in Klövsjö , and in the same season he secured his first national title in the giant slalom. In January 2015 he achieved his first European Cup podium with second place in the Super-G in Val-d'Isère .
This result enabled him to make his World Cup debut in the Super-G at Kvitfjell in March 2015 . At his third Junior World Championships in Hafjell , he finished seventh in each of the two speed disciplines. Due to an injury sustained in summer training, he had to sit out the entire 2015/16 season and made his comeback in the Nor-Am Cup in December 2016 . After good results, including a podium, he continued the season in the World Cup. At the World Championships in St. Moritz , he started in three disciplines and achieved a respectable result in 16th place in the downhill. In Kvitfjell he got his first World Cup points with ranks 29 and 30 in Downhill and Super-G. At the end of the season he won the Swedish championship title in both fast disciplines for the first time.
In the following season he was able to improve his performance in the European Cup and after four placements he finished ninth in the top ten in the downhill classification. In the World Cup he achieved his best results for the time being with ranks 23 and 24 in the two combinations in Bormio and Wengen . He was not considered for the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang . In April he was able to successfully defend both national championship titles.
